Sports article Peer Review. One-on-one meetings with you about your column article. Sports article due next time.
You turned in your student life article and we had a discussion on word choice, specifically "dead" words. We also had a discussion about the alternatives for the word "said" and what connotations those terms carry (i.e. told, explained, denied, etc.). See attached for "dead" words list.
Assignment: Have your sports article ready for peer review next time. Make sure you have at least one source for your article.
We completed a peer review on our column articles which are due next time, printed, and ready for publishing. I gave a presentation on writing sports articles (Chapter 12). See power point attachment. As a class, we identified and replaced the cliche sports writing jargon in a sports article (see attached).
We met together, one-on-one to discuss the first article you wrote. If the article is going to be published, it is due, with revisions on Monday, November 11th. I assigned a column article (rough draft due next time). You choose the topic, but there has to be: 1. an opinion 2. at least one source 3. the shorter the better. We will peer review on Friday
